Psalm 118:1 ESV
I used to think people who were gaga over their dog (or pet) were very strange and might possibly need counseling.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve pretty much always had a dog, but I wasn’t crazy nuts about my dog.
That was before I retired. A few years before I retired I adopted a miniature schnoodle. Now, I’ve had smart dogs, but this dog rivals the poodle I grew up with.
I am seriously thankful for my uber smart dog.
Psalm 118:1 tells us, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!”
Most people might be inclined to think being thankful for a dog is wacko but scripture doesn’t say give thanks for things that are reasonable. Scripture simply says give thanks.
God does not draw the line.
I am thankful that my schnoodle can smell environmental changes and warn of impending danger.
My dog can.tell if someone is safe or not safe. He probably detects their amiability toward dogs, but he knows who to trust. Since I’Ve been warned that I am far too testing, I rely on my dog to warn me when someone is mean.
Dogs can also detect many diseases including diabetes and cancer.
As I watch my dog I’ve notices he stays away from people who do not like dogs.
It may seem silly to some but I give thanks for my dog, my friend, and my loving companion.
Deborah
