I don't know if you're old enough to remember the song, "Mama Said there would be days like this" but I sure do!
The difference is I didn't think getting older would be quite so difficult.
Now...compare me to my 98 year old Mother.
For some unknown reason I have been locked out of my ipad. I realize that the worse case scenario is that I would have to order a new ipad, but remember if you will that I am older. I do not want a new ipad. It's not about the money. It's about my special connection I have to my ipad. I love my old ipad and I do not want a new one.
However, as it is I am using a public computer to work on/ It only took me 45 minutes to get past the security questions and rigmaroll I had to do to be allowed to type on it. I do realize even my youngest grandson would have gained access within two minutes, but he's not here.
I know it's humorous, but I am not laughing...
I don't think God is laughing either. I know from experience that when I need help, God gives help. At the same time I know gratitude for the help is also a factor.
Thank you, God for the help in getting this PC up and running.
Okay...I'll stop the rant and get to the lesson on being refreshed. Actually, that's pretty funny when you think about it! I didn't keep track of how many sins I might have committed while trying to get the computer set up to write this lesson, but it sure is good to know God forgives.
Acts 3:19-21 says, "Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restorating all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago."
I do realize that having issues like the issues I've experienced today are a good reminder of my desperate need for God's help every minute of every day. Actually truth be told as I grow older, I need much more help. When I was young I didn't think that would be the case. I thought by the time we get older we know a thing or two. The difference is that the world around me has changed and even today is changing so fast I can't keep up.
Help me, Lord!
Jeremiah 31:25 tells us "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint."
Lord, oh Lord, refresh my weary brain and satisfy my faint heart.
Finally, thank you God for reminding me how very much I need help daily.
Thank you for reminding me in comparison to my Mom, I am young. Help me, God to be helpful in ways she needs help. I am reminded that she's not the kind of person who really wants help. She is very self-sufficient.
I need to let her be the person she wants to be.
Ultimately, thank you God for being there...I mean really being there as I grow older. I love you, Jesus and I really really don't know what I'd do without you!
