New New Day
Day 2
Chapter 2
In my new new town the children are still in school. I know that because I saw the bus pick them up this morning.
Grandma told me we could go for a walk this morning and I might be able to meet some of the neighbors that are her friends.
Grandma thought I might like to meet the woman who lives next door if she’s home. She explained that her daughter was much younger but she has an older sister who is about my age.
As we started our walk Grandma told me that sometimes the woman and her young daughter were outside in the morning.
Guess what?
They were out back on the patio. Grandma said, “Well this might be a good time for you to meet Pamela and her younger daughter, Paula.”
Grandma led the way to the backyard and said, “Good morning, Pamela. How are you today?”
Pamela replied, “well good morning Ms. Gracie! Isn’t it a beautiful day?”
Grandma smiled and held her hand toward me, “I thought you might like to meet my granddaughter Diane.”
Pamela came over to me and she leaned down and said, “Well hello Diane. We’ve heard a lot of good things about you. I’m glad to meet you.” Then she gently reached down to shake my hand.
I immediately felt welcome as I shook her hand and smiled.
Then Pamela said, “My older daughter Patty will be disappointed she didn’t get to meet you. She’s been excited you are staying with your Grandma.”
I didn’t really know what to say but my Mom always told me to at least say thank you, so I said, “Thank you. I’m glad we came to stay with grandma.”
Then Pamela gave me some good news!”
Pamela said, “Today is the last day of school this year so I hope you’ll be able to meet my older daughter Patty. Your Grandma told me you’ll be in the same grade next fall!”
I smiled and said, “Really?”
Pamela laughed and shook her head, “that’s one reason Patty is so excited you moved in!”
As Grandma and I went back to her house I remembered that my Mom told me she was praying I would find really good friends in Grandma’s neighborhood.
I was really happy someone my age lived next door.
When I went to bed, Mom and I thanked God for moving here and my Mom reminded God we were hoping someone nearby would be my friend.
As I closed my eyes to go to sleep I said, “thank you, Jesus. Thank you for helping me.” Amen.
I smiled and remembered our Pastor at home taught us Amen means, “so be it.”
So be it!
