Quote “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude.” — Harry S. Truman

“A nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure.” — Abraham Lincoln

Today is Memorial Day. It was originally called decoration day and was a day set aside to honor the fallen Union prisoners. In May, 1865 a group of enslaved people in Charleston, South Carolina set time aside to honor Union prisoners who were buried in a mass grave.

Today we remember the fallen service members.
