Another one of Paul’s theological life-changing scriptures that tell us irrefutable characteristics of the nature of God is found in Galatians 6.

This scripture is life-changing. I say that because personally it changed me. It made me realize that for every decision I make I will reap what I have sown.

It made me realize that every believer will be held accountable according to their own decisions.

It told me that when I sow seeds of love I will reap love.

I also realized that when I sow seeds of hate I will reap the same.

Galatians 6:7-9 says, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Think of it this way. If I plant corn seeds I will get corn. If I plant watermelon seeds I will get watermelon. If I plant seeds of trust I will get trust.

While I’ve come to believe the season of harvesting the seeds is not always instant, it will happen.

The reason it will happen one hundred percent of the time is that it’s tied to the very nature and character of God.

That’s why this scripture is life-altering.

God created the universe with action and reaction. We cannot get to good by walking a road filled with bad choices.

But…here’s the catch. We can get to good even if we make mistakes because God gave us a way to get there.

In Colossians 1:15-20 Paul explained who can get us there and how we can find our way. Through the Son we have a way. Paul explains, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

We will reap what we sow and at the same time Jesus, who is head of the church and is the fullness of God forgives when we turn to Him and rides the wave of what we have sown WITH us.

We are forgiven.

The seed has been planted.

Jesus is with us for the harvest of the seeds.

At the very same time, I’ve experienced Jesus teaching me so I will learn from the experience.

Thankfully, I would like to think I make very different choices today that I made when I was twenty.

I know I am still learning.

I am ever so grateful that Jesus forgives and helps me to make better choices because of my previous experiences.

Today, I have learned what Paul wrote about in Colossians 2:6-7, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

Today I would like to think I will listen well and let the Spirit urge me to remember what Paul wrote about in Colossians 3:1-2, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. ”

I hope as my hair turns gray and my physical eyesight dims I will listen well and seek the things that are above in all things.

At the same time I am still human.

I still fail.

God is always good to forgive when I realize it.

The Spirit reminds me as many times as it takes, the Holy Spirit of the living God calls for me and woos me to turn and ask for forgiveness.

In 2 Timothy 1:9 Paul wrote it was God, “who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal.”

Spirit woos us…calls to us. 2 Chronicles 16:9a says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”

God does not give up on us.

Scripture reminds us that God remembers us.

And we are blessed when we carry it in our hearts and minds.
