Psalm 25:1-12 MSG
There’s no skulking for me. That’s because I don’t remember a time when I’ve been unseen. However you need to know I AM a leprechaun.
I am small.
I am energetic.
God gave me powerful tools…namely my pen and my mouth.
I went to a large high school in the K.C. Metro area and I graduated in the early 70’s. In high school I was active in Speech and Drama, I was heavily involved in student government, and I was always in Pep Squad.
This wasn’t just any run of the mill Pep Squad. We were huge. We were loud. I don’t remember exactly how it came about but at the end of my Junior year I became Sargent at Arms for our very large huge Pep Squad.
I am 4’11” tall. Why on earth would a leprechaun be in charge of silencing a huge squad of noisy girls?
It’s simple.
When I was in a crowd, no one could see me. I was the hole in the crowd.
So, how on earth did I become the person who silenced the crowd?
It’s because I was louder.
When they were loud, I was louder.
I wasn’t so much seen as I was heard.
Psalm 25:1-12 tells us:
“My head is high, God, held high;I’m looking to you, God;No hangdog skulking for me.
I’ve thrown in my lot with you;You won’t embarrass me, will you?Or let my enemies get the best of me?
Don’t embarrass any of usWho went out on a limb for you. It’s the traitors who should be humiliated.
Show me how you work, God;School me in your ways.
Take me by the hand;Lead me down the path of truth. You are my Savior, aren’t you?
Mark the milestones of your mercy and love, God;Rebuild the ancient landmarks!
Forget that I sowed wild oats;Mark me with your sign of love.Plan only the best for me, God!
God is fair and just;He corrects the misdirected,Sends them in the right direction.
He gives the rejects his hand,And leads them step-by-step.
From now on every road you travelWill take you to God.Follow the Covenant signs;Read the charted directions.
Keep up your reputation, God;Forgive my bad life; It’s been a very bad life.
My question: What are God-worshipers like?Your answer: Arrows aimed at God’s bull’s-eye.”
I love Psalm 25!
I am reminded that even when I cannot see the way ahead, I look to God. I don’t need to hide or be afraid.
God will take care of everything.
God will lead me to truth.
God marks me with His sign of love.
God has a plan that will send me in the right direction.
God has forgiven me and all roads lead to God!
The same is true for you. When you put or have put your hand in God’s hand, with love, you will know the way.
You will not need to wonder if everything will be okay.
Through God everything will be okay.
When you turn to God you are forgiven.
All roads will lead to God.
You will not need to skulk.
Spiritual Practice: Turn to God
Let God show you the way.
