I love love love studying about the ancient fathers of the faith. St. Ignatius was born in Spain in 1491.
The Ignatian Method visualized scripture. It emphasizes experience and reflection.
St. Ignatius of Loyola is known for the “spiritual practices” he engaged in daily.
Today’s practice begins by examining scripture. As you meditate, put yourself in the story, and become part of God’s intent.
In Luke 18:15-17, “One day some parents brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this, they scolded the parents for bothering him. Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”
Consider (meditate on) Jesus’ intent. Put yourself in the scene. For example, I am one of the children. What part do you play? At one point while you are there, Jesus makes eye contact with you and draws you to him. How does that change you?
In Jesus, Deborah
