Series: Life is Good

Scripture: Psalm 69:16 ESV
By the time I was a teenager I knew God could speak to me and show me things I did not know.
My dad read his Bible frequently snd he talked about God speaking to him. What I had learned from my dad was confirmed the night I went to hear Billy Graham speak in Kansas City.
Psalm 69:16 says, “Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me.”
I knew God still speaks to us today. In my lifetime I have met several people who told me God does not speak to us personally in this day and age.
Since God spoke to me through dreams and visions primarily, I came to believe that God can quietly speak to me. Through the years I learned that a quiet peace that’s very strong comes over me before God speaks to me.
God spoke to me in a dream for the first time when I was 12 years old. My dreams have been a guide for me all the days of my life.
Because I heard the still small voice of God for the first time when I was 12 years old, it’s no surprise to me 60 years later that God still speaks to me through dreams and visions, and a still small voice.
Because I have a long history with God, speaking to me I don’t hesitate to ask God to show me the way.
If I had the opportunity to teach a class on any subject, it would be to teach others about hearing God speak personally to us.
Along the way, however I have learned there are different groups of people and individuals who do not believe God speaks to us personally in this day and age.
Because of my experience with God, it makes me sad that there are people who do not believe God can speak to us in this day and age. I cannot imagine a life without the personal guidance from the Holy Spirit.
I have been Director of a Healing Prayer Service for a Mega Church. We had a weekly service and people came to receive prayer. We had gifted prayers who listened for the voice of God and watched for the movement of God.
Listening Prayer was practiced throughout the congregation.
I cannot imagine, not being surrounded by the power and grace of the Spirit of God.
I can not imagine not being able to heard god.
