Choose Grace
As God gives unlimited unmerited grace to us, we should give grace to others.
Even the Apostle Paul, who was a trained Pharisee before his conversion knew he needed grace.
In 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 Paul wrote, “to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Notice in this passage Paul did not boast about all he had accomplished in his life. In Acts 23:6 Paul admitted he was a Pharisee and he was a son of Pharisees. In other words there were Pharisees in his lineage. He was born into the Tribe of Benjamin.
Yet in the passage in 2 Corinthians he did not boast of that. He spoke of the great revelations God had given him that might make him become conceited. He wasn’t speaking of what he had accomplished. Rather he spoke of what God was revealing to him.
