I Peter 4:8 TLB
Love
I found out today that a good friend went to be with the Lord very recently. He was someone who always had a smile on his face and he had a good attitude about everything.
Even more than that he loved everyone he met.
I Peter 4:8 tells us, “Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love makes up for many of your faults.”
I was sad when I heard of his passing, but after the initial information settled in I remembered the day we met and that made me smile. As a matter of fact, I remembered that his love for others had a great impact on my life.
See…I met him when I was 34 years old. I had four children and three were rambunctious boys. Their older sister was the oldest but she was funny. When her brothers were out of line she reminded them they were out of line with her razor sharp ever so funny wit.
I suppose she argued with them, but I don’t remember it. I do remember her interactions with the grandfatherly man who recently passed. I received word this morning that she was headed to the service with her husband who also knew the gentleman well.
The truth about this man is that he had a great impact on all my children because every time he met them…even the rowdy boys, he loved them well. As far as I can remember he loved everyone well. I envisioned that when he arrived in heaven Jesus said to him, “well done good and faithful servant.”
Today I remembered a great paragon of love.
