3 John 1:2 ESV

I am regularly reminded of the benefits of good health and especially good eyesight.

3 John 1:2 we are told, “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”

Today…monthly I have an eye treatment and I am reminded of the benefits and blessings of modern medicine.

I inherited three eye diseases from women in my family.

One of my grandmothers had glaucoma and I inherited it.

My other grandmother had macular degeneration and she was blind in her later years. I inherited macular degeneration from her.

I also have a dry eye condition that causes blindness. I don’t know where that came from, but I have it and I have to put eye goo in my eyes regularly. Someone told me just this week that a warm washcloth might work just as well so I’m testing that.

Until recently I only had to go to the ophthalmologist once a month but today I was told I need to have monthly injections in both eyes now.

While I can’t say I love the eye injections I can say I look forward to them.

My eye doctor is highly competent and doesn’t dawdle when giving the injection. You have no idea what her expertise means to me. I am ever do grateful for her education and training!

In addition to that, I have people who pray for me. I know that is why getting monthly injection my eye (eyes) goes well.

It really is well with my soul.

I can’t say getting en eye injection is fun, but whenever I have an injection I am ever so grateful that my eyesight can be saved.

We have no idea about the blessings God sends.

Today I sat next to a woman as I waited for my shot. She was waiting for a shot as well. As we talked, she brought up the name of a town out west where her son had lived when he was in the military. It gets very cold and windy there. One of my sons was stationed there at one time.

We both marveled that we met and found common ground as we waited for our shot.

I told her one of my grandmothers had macular degeneration and she didn’t “get” the shot.

She was blind in her latter years.

I remember her.

I am grateful for the shot.

God is good and it is well with my soul.
