1 Peter 4:11 NLT

Every morning when I wake up I wonder, ‘where are the voices of God in our world today?’

If everything we speak and help is from God…where is the unified voice of God in our world?

In I Peter 4:11 he wrote, “Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus  Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.”

Today many ask, where is the voice of truth?

Has our world forgotten that God IS with us but we have to listen?

I get it that daily speaking conversation through God is not easy, but it is do-able when we pray and listen.

Therein lies the catch.

We need to take the screaming voices bull by the horn. By sitting in the silence of God we surrender the noise. We surrender the voices that scream at us daily wanting attention.

Those voices come from television, radio, iPod, and humans. But I’ve been asked time and time again, how do we experience silence in the midst of so much noise? For years I thought it had to physically be done by separating myself from all the noise. Then I discovered that even in separation it can be difficult.

The secret is found in my head. It’s not outside my head. It seems simple, but it doesn’t always make sense. When I figured out my brain CAN be in control, I knew even in a crowded subway I can experience silence.

First you decide to accept silence then you decide to defend against outside noise. At first, noise cancelling earbuds help. But even noise cancelling earbuds don’t replace asking God to help you reduce exterior noise.

Always remember God can do anything.

I went through a phase where others told me that depends on God’s will. While I agree I learned to add to that. It depends on God’s will for GOOD. If we inadvertently ask for something that will harm us, God will give us mercy and protection. God loves us and God will come.

When I first started studying about prayer years ago I learned that God’s love for us is always at the forefront. Legalistic theology and approaches that place value on being “right” can (emphasis in can) forget that God’s love is paramount.

God loved the world and sent his only Son (John. 3:16) who died for us.

We matter to God and God loves us.

God gave us gifts for a reason. They are GIFTS to help us. Learn what your gifts are if you don’t know for sure. It can be done. (https://giftstest.com/ or https://gifts.churchgrowth.org/spiritual-gifts-survey/)

Accept your gifts. Study about them.

If you were not taught the gifts from childhood, you can still learn them with practice. Practice drowning out the noise and listen to God. Use the gifts God gave you to grow and learn.

So, today’s sacred practice is to tell yourself “God loves me more than anything else.”
