Get Personal

Leviticus 19:18c

I recently came to a point of realization by finally admitting to myself I am an addict.

When I finally faced it, I decided I had to do research to find out why I was addicted to one particular activity. So, I looked it up. It turns out crochet has numerous advantages to the brain.

Crochet relieves stress and anxiety, it improves mood, it enhances mindfulness, it engages problem-solving skills, memory, and concentration. So…I ask myself why I need those things.

Then I realized there are several women where I am living who I love.

Leviticus 19:18c says, “you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.”

What Leviticus doesn’t tell us is that while there are benefits to loving others it really is a messy business. When we love…really love another we engage in their lives.

We pray for them and we hurt for them.

That’s what real love is about. When we really love we engage our mind and body in their lives.

Which is messy. Sometimes it’s really messy to the point where we hurt. So…I crochet.
