Mama Said
Revelation 22:17 MSG
As we conclude Mama Said (for now) I realized how many common sayings from the 20th
Century became part of my everyday life. My children also heard many of those sayings while
they were growing up. Even though they were all born in the last quarter of that century, they
could probably tell you what those sayings mean to them.
Revelation 22:17 tells us, ““Come!” say the Spirit and the Bride.
Whoever hears, echo, “Come!” Is anyone thirsty? Come!
All who will, come and drink, Drink freely of the Water of Life!”
Drink freely from the plentiful well of life.
Yet, there are those I’ve met who hesitate because of the rules they’ve heard about. Many if not
most are incorrectly represented. I have not found God’s help to be stifling.
Truth is a good thing and Jesus is the truth.
Life with God is free and wonderful…Jesus is life.
Peace is plentiful and the Spirit calms our souls.
When Horatio Spafford wrote the song “When Peace Like a River” in 1873 he had lost his four
daughters when their ship collided with an oncoming vessel. The ship went down in minutes, but
Horacio’s wife was rescued.
I can’t tell you how he was able to recover such a tragedy, but I do know that when I have been
faced with loss and suffering in my life, God has been right there carrying me.
I cannot imagine what life would be like without God who has never failed me.
It is well with my soul.
All is well with my soul.
All’s well and so we say Amen (so be it).
Deborah
