Romans 5:8
One of the most amazing attributes of God is that God not only loves us, God IS love. God is ALL love.
Grasping that kind of love is difficult for humans because we choose to love or not love.
Romans 5:8 tells us, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 provides us with a perfect example. Even when we didn’t trust God and turn to God for help, God loved us. That means it didn’t matter what we’d done or the choices we’d made…God loved us anyway.
However, there is some debate about eternal salvation in some “camps”. The question is, once we are saved are we always saved? I have wrestled time and time again with that question but when I consider the certainty of God’s love and the fullness of God’s salvation I can only come to one conclusion. What can we do to lose our salvation?
Even if we believe and receive God, and become disillusioned and discouraged, God knows why we are hurting. The completeness of God’s love and compassion is a factor. If we are hurting, God is hurting and yet God will continue to love.
Now consider this…does God only love those who have turned to God?
When someone receives God, that love it is in them. Even if they are discouraged, that love does not leave them because God IS love.
Are there those God does not love? It seems like that cannot be so because God is all love.
Romans 5:8 is clear on this…even before we turned to God, we were loved and Jesus died for us, Jesus died for everyone…not just a chosen few who turned to Him.
Since Jesus died for everyone, even when we doubt His love, Jesus loves us.
Think of it this way…when a child misbehaves and doesn’t trust what a parent says does the parent completely give up on that child if they are a loving parent?
Is God not a loving parent? So…God will not give up on us. The Spirit will continue to woo us back into the arms of God. Forever God will woo us back to Jesus. Forever…hummm.
