Series: Hear Me
John 16:13 ESV
The Holy Spirit is indeed an enigma.
I’ve said before when I was 12 years old and I went to hear Billy Graham in Kansas City I felt swept away when I walked into the stadium that night. At the time I wasn’t sure what was happening but I cried the whole night.
They were tears of joy.
John 16:13 tells us, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”
The message I received that night was loud and clear.
God wanted me to surrender and receive the love of God. I readily received the Spirit of truth.
Since that night sixty years ago God has never let me down. There have been times of great confusion that led to a change, but I knew in the middle of my grief God was with me.
I did ask (beg) God to fix my life so it would be as it was before, but God did not step in. Even though I felt like I suddenly lost my whole life, God helped me to rebuild.
Ever so gradually I came to realize God rescued me and had a different plan for my life. I was in counseling for 2 years and I sat with a Spiritual Director for five years after counseling.
God put the pieces of my life back together and then surprised me by calling me to go to Seminary. It took 7 years to complete my Master of Divinity Degree (144 hours). It was a wonderful journey!
The Spirit of God has never failed me. Even when I was so afraid I could not continue, God was there to guide me.
In Seminary I had to choose a language component and I knew something about Koine Greek. I taught myself to look up passages and to work through the meaning. Because I had a working knowledge of Greek I decided to take Biblical Hebrew.
I can honestly say studying Biblical Hebrew (the language of the Old Testament) was the most difficult task I’ve even completed.
I can also tell you it was the most satisfying study I’ve done. I studied Spanish from 7th Grade through four semesters in College and Hebrew was much more difficult, but also was a great bless-ed journey! To this day I absolutely love revisiting the original text. I love reading scholarly journals that reference the Ancient Hebrew!
I know, I know, yes I AM a geek!
I’m a Hebrew junkie!
I love the journey God offered to me because the Spirit came and came and came and comes to help me find the truth!
The Spirit speaks to me as I study.
I don’t always write about everything I study but God continues to bless me daily.
God gave me a new life…and it IS very good! It turned out that I love my new life!

Sloppy Joe Day!
Holiday: National Sloppy Joe Day! When I was small I was a very picky eater but I always loved my mom’s sloppy joes. It consists of ground meat cooked and drained, chicken gumbo soup, and catsup and mustard. Mix all and eat it on a bun. It’s a super easy meal!

God Heals
Healing: if you have had a life altering event, ask God to heal you. I didn’t think God could heal me when I lost my life, but God did not fail me!
Say I Forgive
Prayer: If someone has hurt you terribly, forgive them.
You do not need to feel like forgiving them.
You can still be mad or sad.
Let God do the hard work of working through forgiveness.
