Exodus 23:20 ESV

Reading scripture is one thing…one very good thing, but reading scripture that is power-packed and set apart (Holy) and carried to our ears by the Spirit of the living God is another thing altogether!

It’s so powerful that if a child is taught at a very young age to pray and ask the Spirit of God to deliver just the right (perfect) message from God to them, that child will know (I mean really know) the message deep in their heart all the days of their lives.

See in counseling classes in graduate school we studied how we all think and process information differently and the principles we learn when we are young stick with us longest. That seems like it’s backward.

It seems like we would forget the principles we learned a long time ago and they would be buried by new principles we learned as adults.

The catch is that knowledge in our brains continues to build on knowledge.

The concepts, especially the major concepts are not single blocks that stay stagnant.  As we grow older we build on those blocks.

Now…we do not all have the same kind of brain. Men and women have brains that are different. God also created us so that there are right brain and left brain categories. If someone is predominantly left brain oriented they tend to be verbal, analytical, and orderly. Those who are predominantly right brain tend to be more creative, emotional and intuitive. Once again, we also factor in male and female into the mix.

There ARE also people who are somewhat left brain and somewhat right brain.

A human can be a little verbal, but predominately creative, emotional, and intuitive. Artists often do better when they create from chaos.

The catch is that the human brain is extremely complex.

The good news is that there is nothing God does not know.

In Matthew 19:26 we are told, ”Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

We often focus on physical miracles God can do, but we cannot forget very minute intricate details within us that God can do daily.

God understands how each one of us process information.

God can speak to us.

God can send the Spirit to communicate with us.

Because God knows everything about us and God knows what we need, God can do a miracle (or miracles) in us.

From the outside in and the inside out nothing is impossible with God.

Psalm 91:3-7 tells us:

“For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler    and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his pinions,    and under his wings you will find refuge;    his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

You will not fear the terror of the night,    nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,    nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,    ten thousand at your right hand,    but it will not come near you.”

Consider this …if the terror at night is in you, or in our mind, Gods can deliver us.

If the terror at night is a physical danger we face, God can deliver us.

Under the wings of God the Spirit of God is faithful and can deliver us.

We do not need to be afraid.

God covers us.

In addition to the Spirit in us that protects, we also have protection from outside sources.

Luke 4:10 says, “He will command his angels concerning you,    to guard you,’”

Exodus 23:20 tells us,  “Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.”

In 1975 Billy Graham wrote a book that I read over and over again entitled, “Angels: God’s Secret Agents”. In the book he wrote, “The empire of angels is as vast as God’s creation. If you believe in the Bible, you will believe in their ministry.”

I’m not sure why, but there was a period of time before we began serving in ministry when I constantly felt like we were under attack from spiritual forces. I had many dreams and visions during that time about what was to come and dark forces filled with fear were also nearby. Once I started studying about God’s Secret Agents, and I prayed for protection, the attacks eventually stopped. I believe because of the protection of the Spirit and Angels, they knew they were out-matched.

The attacks stopped but even today I continue to pray for protection. I ask God to send angels to surround my space and my physical body.

I’ve written about my long time prayer partner and she taught me in 1995 about praying into my space, especially into a new space (home) when I move in. Now, whenever I move into a new space, I pray protection over that property.

God honors that prayer.

Every time…

Spiritual Practice: Pray

Pray protection for you and yours. Pray into your space asking God to surround and protect all who enter. Pray protection in your vehicles. It does make a difference!

Today’s Desert Fruit is the drought resistant Manzanita. It’s been said that the fruit looks like a little apple. We are reminded when we thirst or have a need we should go to the source of life.
