1 Peter 1:22

Today’s scripture (and others like it) have always been a conundrum to me.

Even when I begin my day with the best of intentions the minute I go out into the world, pure love doesn’t hold on very long.

In 1 Peter 1:22 the Apostle wrote, “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart.”

While I believe Peter and I agree, consistently having a pure heart is no easy feat.

That’s why a long time ago I asked my dad how to manage loving people who are mean and selfish. He smiled and (in his way) said, “who is managing it?”

At first I think, ‘is he losing his hearing’?

Then I remember…oh yea. This is one of those God deals. See, even though my teacher had told me a hundred times there were instances when I forgot I am not the creator of love.

God created.

God created love.

Day by day (minute by minute) God is the one who creates and gives love. So…I go back to the source, say sorry, and ask for love.

It’s all in the turning to the source.
