Chapter 8
New New Day
I watched all week for Patty to come home then on Sunday Morning she was finally back!
Mom, Gramma, and I planned to go to Sunday School so hopefully I could meet Patty after church.
We left for church a little early so Gramma could show us around before Sunday School
After the tour of the building we headed toward my classroom. I was a little nervous. Some places really make you feel welcome and some don’t seem to like new people. At least I met the teacher…that will help.
When we stepped into the room the teacher immediately came over. She introduced me and told everyone to give me a big welcome. Most of the girls waved hi and the boys did a short hey. As I looked around I couldn’t believe what I saw! One of the girls was Patty!
The teacher and I said goodbye to Gramma and Mom and then she said, “Patty, since you live near Diane can she be your partner today?
Patty came over and led me to her table and she gave me a little hug and told she was really excited I came to Sunday School.
She said, “I didn’t get a chance to tell you we were leaving because I didn’t find out until 6 a.m. that day. My Grandma who lived about two hours away was sick and she was in the hospital.”
I said, “Oh no! Is she better?”
Patty told me she was back home and her uncle got home from a business trip. He lives about five minutes from her. He had the week off so he sent us home.
She asked how my week went?
About that time the teacher gently clapped her hands and told us it was time to take a seat. Patty grabbed two seats and offered me a chair.
The teacher told us we were going to be studying about two of Jesus’ disciples who were called the Son’s of Thunder who were brothers. They were James and John.
She told us when Jesus met them He asked them to follow him. They dropped their nets and immediately started following Jesus.
Jesus called them Sons of Thunder because they were brothers and both had strong personalities.
She ended by telling us they were both deeply devoted to Jesus.
Then she passed out paper, pencils and crayons and she told is to draw a picture of James and John.
I was so excited I could hardly breathe!
We had paper, thin markers, crayons, and colored pencils so I had everything I needed. Thanks, Jesus!
Patty told me I was really fast and my picture was really good! I told her my dad was an artist and grandma gave me what I needed to set up my own Art Studio.
The other girls heard about my studio and they all wanted to see it!
I had a great time at church!
I really starting to like this new place!
