2 Timothy 1:6 ESV

The gift…the really great gift we have been given from God is the Helper…the Holy Spirit that abides IN us.

Asking God to fan the flame of the Holy Spirit or helper God sent to believers on earth is wonderful on top of awesome!

2 Timothy 1:6 tells us, “I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”

It’s been my experience that fanning the flame through laying on of hands can be done in various ways. The optimal choice is to meet person to person with other believers.

However when that is absolutely not possible, group praying can be done by a people who agree to pray at the same time. If one person in the group is present, they can lay hands on the recipient.

I have people I call on for prayer and even though we live is different states and it IS a powerful experience to have a regular group that prays together.

Having said that, I might add I am inclined to think that asking God to “fan the flame” to receive power from the Holy Spirit is a prayer God will answer immediately. Asking for more of God and God’s power is a given.

In other words, it is a prayer God will answer immediately.

God’s love is strong and powerful for those who turn to God and want to receive more of God.

When I was 12 years old I went to Arrowhead Stadium to hear Billy Graham. Rev. Graham had believers praying for each rally months before the night of the event. The instant I walked into the stadium I was overwhelmed with the power of God. I had never experienced anything like it before. Having hundreds…even thousands of people praying for the meetings that week really made a difference!

Their prayers really did fan the flame in Kansas City!

I will never forget that night and the power of God I experienced. That was in 1967. I was 14 years old.

That was a very long time ago!

Anytime you have the opportunity to pray with a large group of people who are really committed to prayer, take the opportunity!
