The Wind Blows

Ecclesiastes 1:6 ESV
The wind blows on a course daily. Even in the dead heat of summer the wind does blow.
The writer tells us while we work generations come and go as the sun rises and sets the wind blows. In Ecclesiastes 1:6, “The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind and on its circuits the wind returns.”
On and on it goes…the wind blows.
The Preacher, the Son of David came to the realization that even his wisdom is blowing in the wind.
So I have a pattern that seems to have continuously repeated itself throughout my life. I love learning new things and I’ve come to believe that God sends me new seeds from time to time.
Each new seed that comes it a great gift.
A while back I ordered a book about human origins because I thought it would be interesting to compare early hu-man in the Bible to man today. Weird I know…welcome to my world.
I went to my ‘go to’ sight and ordered what seemed to be a book that was difficult enough to challenge but not so difficult to understand early man.
It turned out I was grossly naive in my estimation of my knowledge base when it comes to early man.
Understand I wasn’t necessarily looking for a textbook. I just wanted a book that would help me to understand man in early scripture.
I should have read the bio on the author instead of thinking about finding a book that wouldn’t break the bank.
The instant I opened the book I knew I was in over my head. With each turn of the page I had to go to google several times to look up definitions and identifiers.
However, I am a stubborn sort when it comes to books so I did gradually get my footing. By the time I completed the first chapter I was happy about my purchase. I learned eons about primate morphology and periods.
I was reminded I’d had my head buried in Biblical Exegesis. The oldest texts of scripture date back to 1400 B.C. Early fossils of man have been dated between 2 and 6 million years ago.
So just under 4000 years compared to 2-6 million years.
By the time I did the math I started to realize I really know nothing. That is when I became really really interested in my new textbook about human origins.
The wind blows round and round.
The wind has blows round and round for millions of years.
The Bible estimates earth is around 6,000 years old but using radio metric dating scientists believe earth is actually somewhere in the neighborhood of 4.5 billion years old.
Even before reading my new textbook about human origins I thought the earth was maybe millions of years old. I was way way off.
Ultimately I’m really grateful I found a great deal ($4.99) on a book that provided priceless information to my knowledge base,
The wind blows round and round today and has blows round and round and round for way way longer than I can even wrap my head around.
For 4.5 BILLION years the wind has been blowing…and blowing. My next task is to read more to find out what scientists think the earth was like 4 Billion years ago!
